Incredible Lou Boudreau original display painting created for Sealtest Milk and Ice Cream. The likeness of Boudreau is an attractive oil on canvas painting cut and mounted against the advertising board with the Sealtest logo and positioning statement set on a gradated orange background. Matted with rounded corners and framed in its original 20" x 21" frame. An identifying document affixed to the reverse of the frame suggests it was entered into a national advertising competition and identifies the creators as Frank Reeser and Angelo Bulone of Central Outdoor Advertising of Cleveland a company that created large-format advertising posters. We have never seen a Boudreau advertisement for Sealtest products so it is entirely likely that this piece is an original advertising proof used to pitch Sealtest on a potential campaign and subsequently entered into an advertising competition. Regardless a historically important one-of-a-kind advertising display. PLEASE NOTE: We are adding further detail to this description as a bidder pointed out the lack of clarity regarding condition or how this piece is constructed. It is a really interesting piece. Essentially this piece consists of three different graphic elements attached to one another and housed inside a wooden frame and cardboard matte with no glass. The yellow/orange background onto which the blue testimonial “Lou Boudreau Says…” is printed is essentially the first layer. There’s some visible foxing around the typesetting which appears to be painted onto the background. A white scuff is visible in the photo underneath the word “BY”. Beyond that a few stray scuffs and marks are visible here and there. On top of the yellow/orange background is the painting of Boudreau which is an original painting that appears to have been made onto canvas and then cut around the edges as if it were die-cut. It was then glued onto the yellow/orange background. The painting and canvas are in great shape though you can see some hints of glue around the edges where it was affixed to the yellow/orange backing. On top of the painting is the red base which appears along the bottom of the piece with the white “Sealtest” logo and related typography which all appears to also be hand-painted. The red base is glued onto the image of Boudreau and also the yellow/orange background. It lays flat on the piece though the top edge is visibl
