Attractive 1869 Harper's Weekly woodcut image featuring the "Picked Nine of the 'Red Stockin' Base-Ball Club Cincinnati Ohio." The woodcut has been trimmed from the bottom half of its page resulting in a piece measuring approximately 10 3/4" x 7 3/4" exhibiting very little wear. The 1869 Red Stockings are considered the game's first all-professional team with ten players receiving a salary. The image pictures the following players: TOP ROW (L-R): Dick Hurley George Wright (HOF) Doug Allison Cal McVey Andy Leonard. BOTTOM ROW (L-R): Charlie Sweasy Fred Waterman Harry Wright (HOF) Asa Brainard Charlie Gould. A very appealing and tougher-to-find woodcut image of one of the game's most important teams.
