Attractive card of recently-inducted Hall of Famer Hank O'Day enshrined by the pre-integration era committee in 2013. O'Day was a pitcher for the seven seasons between 1884 and 1890 but it was his time as an umpire that established him as a Hall of Famer. O'Day was the umpire who ultimately ruled against Fred Merkle in the infamous Merkle Boner game in 1908 though Bob Emslie was the umpire who made the call. O'Day umpired in ten World Series more than any umpire aside from Bill Klem. He was also involved with the major league rules committee and is the only person to have served as a player manager umpire and scout. The card is quite attractive boasting a clean well-defined image with strong contrast. SGC's AUTHENTIC designation comes as a result of the card having been skinned; a cursory glance reveals a clean back with some mild creasing but light spots of paper loss suggest a layer or two of paper is likely missing. Still an exceptional card.
