Few figures in the hobby are experiencing the dramatic explosion in value as Jackie Robinson; his cards seemingly break records with every sale. One of his more underrated is this spectacular portrait card from the gorgeous 1953 Topps issue the smiling second baseman leading off the entire set as its #1 card. This example is sharp and clean centered slightly low but boasting tremendous eye appeal within the grade. Corners are sharp for the grade a light touch visible at the bottom left but with very little of the chipping in the dark area at the card bottom that is typically seen in this issue. As Robinson cards continue to explode in value this early example remains moderately affordable.
