When sorting through Ted Patterson's large collection of cards we came upon a pile of cards from the Jay Publishing issues of the 1950s and 1960s. While some of the cards were still in their original plastic-wrapped packs most were in a single large pile perhaps 400 cards in total. As has been the case with other parts of Ted's collection we took the time to go through each of the cards and discovered - in the middle of the pile - that a large group had been autographed. This is a huge collection of Jay Publishing cards more than 275 in total all autographed. The majority were likely signed by the players directly in Ted's presence as he was known to bring large amounts of flat items into the clubhouse for players to sign. The majority of the signatures appear in black or blue Sharpie though some are in ballpoint. The group is largely in VG/EX condition with some toning and light corner wear though some are in lesser technical grade some with writing on the reverse a few tape marks here and there and the occasional crease. Still the visual appeal of a Jay Publishing card is dramatically improved when an autograph is applied to the card itself and this is the largest such group we have ever encountered.
