I have one to sell!
Unusual advertising poster featuring George Stallings and Johnny Evers of the "miracle" Boston Braves along with Connie Mack and Eddie Collins of the Philadelphia Athletics. Clearly intended to hang in a sporting goods store the unusual issue with the piece is the fact that it fails to name the product or retailer that it advertises. Advertising copy reads as follows: Local clubs and individual baseball players are respectfully notified that we sell complete baseball outfits and offer prompt service and the best attention. The prices are very moderate and the fabrics we offer are of good quality and show good variety in their color schemes. We have a special baseball catalgue containing simples and styles which may be had on request. Please see it before you decide on your baseball requirements. Further copy along the bottom of the poster reads as follows: From last place in the National League to the World's Baseball Championship in four months is the record of Stallings and his Boston Braves. Clearly created for a Boston-area retailer the poster features an ornate border that features illustrations of various paints brushes and artist's palettes the copy and photo centered inside. Professionally matted and framed to a finished size of approximately 20" x 27" the poster offers exceptional eye appeal the matting and framing preventing us from examining the condition of the edges and reverse. Still an outstanding piece related to the 1914 Braves.
