The 1927 New York Yankees are one of the greatest - and most romanticized - in all of baseball history. Let by Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig (who drove in an astonishing 338 runs between them) the famous "Murderer's Row" lineup produced an astonishing record of 110-44 the team finishing 19 games ahead of the second place Athletics. Their World Series victory over Pittsburgh was almost a foregone conclusion by Game 3 on October 7 the Yankees had already moved ahead two games to zero. Future Hall of Famer Herb Pennock took the mound against star pitcher Lee Meadows for the series' first game at Yankee Stadium the Yankees jumping out to an early lead on a two-run triple by Lou Gehrig in the first inning. With Pennock in complete control of the game the Yankees plated six more in the 7th capped by a three-run blast by Babe Ruth - the ninth World Series home run of 15 he would hit in his career. The stub has been authenticated by PSA graded 2 (MK) due to two small staple holes at the top and some light pencil writing on the reverse that chronicle the game and Ruth's home run. Eye appeal far surpasses the technical grade however with some light paper loss on the reverse at the perf some minor edge chipping and extra paper at the perf on the front and a deep lavender color that lends considerable aesthetic appeal.
