Well-worn ticket stub from Game 1 of the 1919 World Series at Redland Field. Eddie Cicotte took the mound and on the second pitch hit Cincinnati's Morrie Rath in the back with a pitch - a signal to gambler Arnold Rothstein that the fix was in and the White Sox would be throwing the game. At the end of the contest Cincinnati had won the game 9-1 with Cicotte giving up 6 runs in 3 2/3 innings. The stub is well-worn with a significant vertical tear repaired with clear tape on both front and back. Additional light spots of paper loss appear on the reverse. Regardless a ticket stub with extreme historical significance the first game of a World Series that remains infamous even today.
