The 1934 World Series capped off one of the great seasons and pennant races in the history of the game. Though only one-half inning of the game has been scored inside the scorebook we can tell that this is from Game 3 the first game at Sportsman's Park in which the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Detroit Tigers 4-1 another masterful performance by Cardinals starting pitcher Paul Dean. A Dean brother appeared in all but the second game of this Series including Dizzy Dean's Game 4 pinch running appearance when he was knocked unconscious by a thrown ball. The scorecard itself is well-worn some paper loss evident around the edges along with some rubber stamps on the cover writing heavy toning and a few creases. The interior pages are in stronger condition some handwritten notations on the scorecard page and the aforementioned one-half inning of actual scoring.
