Exceptional studio postcard of "Vic" Harris an outstanding hitter and manager in the Negro Leagues who remained with the Homestead Grays between 1928 and 1945 managing the team to eight pennants during that time. Harris also played winter ball in the Cuban league and managed the Santurce team in the Puerto Rican League between 1947 and 1950. Harris was among those players considered in 2006 when the Baseball Hall of Fame Committee on African-American Baseball inducted 17 new members to the Hall. The card has been graded AUTHENTIC by SGC perhaps due to the writing on the front or due to some policy regarding Real Photo Postcards and grading. The appearance however is quite strong the image of Harris dynamic and attractive the uniformed player coolly standing and posing for the camera. The reverse does exhibit some light staining and some stray writing in the lower-right corner though certainly nothing to detract tremendously from the card. An exceptional example.
