Grouping of five game-worn Baltimore Orioles caps from the collection of former Orioles broadcaster Ted Patterson. Patterson was infamous in Major League clubhouses for his collection and his propensity to obtain signatures and memorabilia of the players he met during his career. Part of Ted's collection includes a large number of Orioles caps from a variety of players some of which became Hall of Famers and some of which were simply fan favorites with shorter careers. Ted's collection spanned decades as he often obtained vintage caps from players that had long since retired to add to his extensive collection. Highlighted by an early cap this collection includes several different styles of Orioles cap both vintage and modern each carrying its own LOA from MEARS. Collection includes: 1) 1959-62 Barry Shetrone: Size 7 1/4 Tim McAuliffe brand cap worn by the outfielder who played just five seasons four with Baltimore accumulating just 121 plate appearances in that time. Heavy wear Shetrone's number 40 written inside the brim which was also signed in blue marker. 2) 2002 Gary Matthews Jr: Outstanding New Era size 7 1/8 Matthews' number 36 written in black marker inside the brim where Matthews has also signed inscribed and dated the cap. Matthews played just two seasons with Baltimore his career blossoming further in 2004 with texas. Heavy use with staining and smudging inside the brim and band. 3) 2002-04 Luis Matos: New Era size 7 1/4 cap worn by the Orioles outfielder during the prime of his 7-year career. Heavy use with significant soiling Matos' number 32 written inside the brim. 4) 2003 Larry Bigbie Batting Practice Cap: New Era small/medium exhibits moderate wear Bigblie's signature and insrciption in white on the outer brim. 5) 2003 Jay Gibbons: Outstanding New Era size 7 3/8 cap worn in 2003 by the Orioles outfielder/first baseman during his finest season. In 2003 Gibbons batted .277 with 23 home runs and 100 RBI. Hat exhibits heavy wear with some tearing near the brim Gibbons' number 25 written inside the brim his signature and inscription on the orange exterior.
