The 1927 New York Yankees are considered by many to be the greatest baseball team in history. The team's 110-44 record and .714 winning percentage placed them 19 games ahead of the 91-63 Philadelphia Athletics. Seven Hall of Famers wore the pinstripes that season: first baseman Lou Gehrig second baseman Tony Lazzeri Outfielders Babe Ruth and Earle Combs pitchers Waite Hoyt and Herb Pennock and manager Miller Huggins. Babe Ruth broke the single-season home run record with 60 batting .356 with 165 RBI - and since he was not eligible due to a clause preventing repeat winners his teammate Lou Gehrig won the league MVP award with a .373 batting average 47 homers and 173 RBI. The team was so dominant that it scored 376 more runs than it allowed and swept the Pittsburgh Pirates in the World Series. Presented here is a lovely season pass as issued to Lawrence Berliner (misspelled "Berlinger" on the pass front but signed "Berliner" on the reverse) which admitted the recipient to all Yankees home games for their greatest season. Berliner who lived at 154 Nassau Street in lower Manhattan (now part of Pace University) would have seen history unfold before his eyes at Yankee Stadium as the team in its 25th season put on one of the greatest performances in baseball history. The pass is quite well-preserved some minor corner and edge wear visible as well as some light foxing and age-related discoloration at the edges. Otherwise strong and clean the extremely desirable pass offers an excellent presentation. Next time you are in a room full of true baseball fans pose the question: if you were able to acquire a season pass to see any team in baseball history which team would it be? We predict that a majority of responses would be "The 1927 Yankees." Here is your chance.
