Nicknamed "Mr. Team " Bob Elliott was a member of the 1948 Boston Braves driving in more than 100 runs. His playing career lasted 15 seasons through 1953 when he was 36 years old. After a year in the PCL Elliott became manager of the San Diego Padres between 1955 and 1957 the Sacramento Solons in 1959 and was given the opportunity to manage the Kansas City Athletics in 1960. His tenure as a manager lasted that one season after which he became a coach for the Los Angeles Angels in 1961 his last in organized baseball. Elliott suffered a ruptured windpipe in 1966 and passed away at the young age of 49. This team-signed unofficial baseball is highlighted by Elliott who signed the ball on the sweet spot. The majority of the signatures on the ball are heavily faded; very few - Bob Johnson Walker Cooper Bud Daley Norm Siebern - are easily legible. The key however remains Elliott who passed away at an early age and whose signature is not easily found. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
