Extraordinarily condition-sensitive the Williams Caramel E103 cards of 1910 were produced on incredibly thin blank-backed paper. Despite being absolutely gorgeous cards with rich red backgrounds and elegant typefaces announcing the player name and team the cards are nearly impossible to find in decent condition. In fact with hundreds of cards between PSA and SGC that have been graded only a fraction of them have graded EX or better. The cards are simply too flimsy seemingly enough to fall apart in your hand. Despite the condition issues inherent to the issue they are extremely sought after. Presented here is one of the issue's two keys that of Ty Cobb. Graded POOR 10 the card exhibits the surface wear and corner rounding so common to the issue. In fact of 28 E103 Cobb cards to have been graded by SGC (as of their last population report update) nearly half of them were graded POOR or lesser with the highest-graded specimen only at the EX level. PSA's population report is similar with six of 21 graded examples at the POOR or AUTHENTIC level. Despite the visible wear on the card the issue is scarce and desirable and the card is important in any condition certainly one of the most condition-sensitive Ty Cobb cards ever produced.
