Gorgeous well-centered and colorful rookie card of Hall of Famer Robin Roberts. Just about perfectly centered the card exhibits none of the print flaws common to the issue the rich red background unbroken and clean. Light corner touches are evident but the card is otherwise an outstanding example. An extremely underrated pitcher Roberts won 20 games in six consecutive seasons between 1950 and 1955 leading the league in games started in each of those seasons and completing 20 or more games every year between 1950 and 1956. He finished his career with 286 wins and a lifetime ERA of 3.41 in 19 seasons with 2 357 strikeouts. A tremendous card one of the less-heralded but very important cards in the 1949 Bowman issue.
