Sharp and well-defined example of Bill Holbert's N172 issue one of seven different cards of Holbert known in the issue this card is significant because it is the only card in the entire N172 series that identifies a player as a member of the New York Metropolitans ("Mets"). Issued in 1889 two years after the Mets were eliminated from the American Association by this time an independent team making this card the only card in the entire set to depict a player on an independent team. The FAIR 1.5 grade speaks to writing and overall staining on the reverse but the front is clean and more befitting of a VG card.
