Creative framed display measuring 22" x 19" devoted to Dodgers great Gil Hodges. Professionally matted and framed the piece includes two components: a news service photo of Stan Musial with Gil Hodges signed by Musial with an inscription related to Hodges and a letter of thanks from Hodges dated September 6 1957. The photo appears to be a Type 1 News Service Photo in outstanding condition (though we cannot examine the reverse or the edges due to the frame). The slug while not attached is present also included in the display dated June 6 1951. Musial has added his signature and inscription on his likeness writing "To Danny - A great fan/Stan Musial/Gil was a outstanding ball player." The letter was written to a Mr. Sheldon Spindell of United States Motors in Brooklyn expressing gratitude for Gil Hodges Night on July 19. Hodges graciously writes "Baseball players get many thrills during a career but none will ever match those I experienced on July 19th when the wonderful fans of Brooklyn celebrated my Night at Ebbets Field. Believe me I wish I could tell each fan personally what it meant to me and my family to know we had so many friends. Our love to all of you. Sincerely Gil Hodges." The letter appears in EX condition on Dodgers letterhead with a clean bold signature. LOA from James Spence Authentication.
