I have one to sell!
The story of our discovery of 18 signed WBTV Charlotte Orioles cards is chronicled in the pages of this catalog. What was interesting was that when we first presented the Ripken to James Spence for authentication but before we showed him the other signed cards we had from the set he exclaimed "Hey do you know what card from this set has a lot of value? Drungo Hazewood!" We then proceeded to present him with the remaining 17 cards which included the Hazewood. Born in Mobile Alabama in 1959 Drungo Hazewood made his pro baseball debut at just 17 years old with the Bluefield Orioles of the Appalachian League. The young outfielder hit for power and made his way through the low-level minors before being a surpise September callup to the Show where he would appear in six games striking out four times in five plate appearances and going hitless. Hazewood returned to the minors in 1981 settling in at the AA level. During the 1983 season Hazewood left baseball to take care of his ailing mother. Sadly he passed away at just 53 years old. Drungo Hazewood played five games with the Baltimore Orioles. He was a major league ballplayer. He is also a very difficult signature highly sought after by Orioles collectors who need Hazewood's signature to complete their Orioles 1980 Charlotte O's or 1980 Baltimore Orioles collections. Here's one of the rare ones. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
