Exceptional hardcover book Napoleon at the Boulogne Camp by Fernand Nicolay a 400-page original volume describing Napoleon Bonaparte's 1803 establishment of the camp for his "Grand Army" to invade Britain. The camp housed 60 000 French soldiers by 1805. Napoleon was as one would expect the favorite historical figure of Ty Cobb. Outfielder Charlie Abbey stole 93 bases in his 5-year career a run that ended at the end of the 1897 season. In 1911 he gifted this book to Cobb as evidenced by the inscription in the flyleaf. The book was purchased from a collection belonging to the estate of Charlie Cobb's parents; Charlie Cobb was Ty Cobb's first wife - they divorced in 1947. The book is in fair condition with considerable foxing and soiling on the cover and interior pages. The cover is sturdy and the pages intact however the inscription bold and legible.
