The 1955 Topps set is one of the most widely-collected of all the card issues produced during the hobby's "golden age." Marking the first-year cards of Sandy Koufax Roberto Clemente and Harmon Killebrew plus the long-awaited World's Championship for the Brooklyn Dodgers the set captures the attention of collectors even today. Complete uncut sheets from this issue are seldom encountered with this and one other example of the same sheet being the only complete 110-card sheets we have found in our research. While smaller individual panels exist the majestic appearance of the colorful complete sheet is unmatched the portrait images of each player contrasting with the full-body "action" illustrations to create one of the most visually appealing uncut sheets we have encountered in the hobby. Though technical condition would certainly fall into the F to P range the visual appeal of the full display is far greater. On large series of heavy creases that traverse the center of the sheet tearing in places implies that the sheet was once folded in half length-wise likely for storage. Three additional sets of lighter but still visible vertical creases suggest that the rolled-up sheet may have once experienced mild vertical folding. Corner and edge damage are of course quite visible with several moderate edge tears. Despite all this the display is clean and colorful with representation from two each of 50 different players plus ten double prints. Hall of Famers represented on the sheet include two each of Monte Irvin Billy Herman Hal Newhouser and Warren Spahn. Additional star power is provided by Johnny Podres Eddie Lopat Al Rosen Jim Gilliam Roy Sievers Rip Repulski Dick Groat Ferris Fain and Camilo Pascual. Measuring a full 42" x 26 3/4" the sheet will make for a wonderful framed display. An outstanding uncut sheet from an incredibly popular Topps set. EDIT: Back photo added.
