Extraordinary 1950 "Whiz Kids" ticket from October 1 1950 at Ebbets Field. On that day the last game of the 1950 season the Phillies led the Dodgers by a single game. A loss wouuld force a three-game playoff a win would secure the pennant. The Phillies went with their ace Robin Roberts who had started three games in the previous seven days. The Dodgers went with their ace Don Newcombe. An exciting game the two pitchers dueled to a 1-1 game through 9 before Roberts put two runners on with none out. Duke Snider than ripped a base hit to center but notoriously weak-armed Richie Ashburn threw out Abrams at home. With runners on second and third Roberts walked Jackie Robinson to load the bases and bring up the power hitting Carl Furillo. Furillo popped out to Eddie Waitkus at first bringing up Gil Hodges who flied out to right fielder Del Ennis to force extra innings. WIth one out in the 10th Dick Sisler hit an opposite field home run to take the lead and Roberts retired the Dodgers in the bottom of the frame to win the pennant. Attractive stub collector grade due to surface wear and wrinkling. An important game in Phillies history and perhaps one of the greatest baseball games ever.
