Attractive collection of five N172 Old Judge cards featuring players from the Chicago Maroons of the Western Association. The Maroons disbanded after just one season 1888 producing a number of players who eventually saw major league action. The fact that they existed for only one year is what leads to the scarcity of the subset however and thus is the reason for their desirability. Included in the collection are the following: 1) Jumbo Schoeneck SGC GOOD 2 with an outstanding image strong contrast and eye appeal far greater than the assigned grade; 2) William Hanrahan SGC GOOD 2 overall wear but only moderate image fading; 3) Jack Crogan SGC FR 1.5 with slight image fading and surface wear; 3) Jack Crogan SGC A due to skinning but extremely strong image quality and dark contrast; and 5) J.E. Dunn SGC A due to trimming some toning and mild image fading but still strong. An exceptional grouping of five cards from the extremely difficult Chicago Maroons subset highly sought after due to their scarcity. Five cards total.
