Discovered only recently the Tango Eggs issue was produced in 1916 by L. Frank & Company of New Orleans. Similar in design to the 1915 E106 American Caramel issue a hoard of about 800 of the cards were discovered in 1991. Prior to that the set was virtually unknown with just a handful of circulated copies having popped up over the years. Of the 18 different subjects discovered the majority of the cards discovered were either of outfielder Bob Bescher or of Hughie Jennings. In fact of the 263 cards from the issue graded by PSA 106 were either Bescher or Jennings. Still even the Bescher and Jennings cards are very scarce and valuable and often serve as the introduction to the set for prewar collectors who are then tempted to set about the impossible task of getting close to completion. With just one copy extant of multiple cards in the issue such a task may be a pipe dream - but for a lot of us that's what the hobby is about. Presented here is what would be for many an impossible collecting challenge: a group of ten cards from the rare and elusive set. Representing more than half the set including some very scarce examples. While assembling the remaining eight cards would be quite an achievement (most have just a handful of known examples and some as few as just one) this is a grouping of ten of the hobby's most elusive cards with even the Jennings and Bescher representing a significant degree of rarity. The collection includes the following: 1) Bob Bescher - PSA EX-MT 6; 2) Al Bridwell - PSA VG-EX 4 a significant rarity with fewer than ten examples known; 3) Hal Chase - exceptionally scarce PSA GOOD 2; 4) Red Dooin - PSA EX 5; 5) Hughie Jennings - PSA EX-MT 6; 6) George McQuillan - PSA EX+ 5.5; 7) Billy Meyer (Pictures Fred Jacklitsch) - PSA EX-MT 6 particularly difficult; 8) Danny Murphy - PSA EX-MT 6 very scarce; 9) Buck Weaver (Pictures Joe Tinker) - PSA GOOD 2; 10) Heinie Zimmerman - PSA EX-MT 6 an extreme rarity with fewer than ten examples known. An incredible grouping of cards from one of the hobby's most fascinating - and challenging - discoveries. Ten cards total.
