The 1922 W503 set is extraordinarily rare. With a little over 100 of the 64-card set ever having been graded the true method of distribution of the cards is speculated to have been along with candy or gum. The cards measuring 1 3/4" x 2 3/4" feature sharp black and white photography - another of the more attractive 1920s black and white issues and certainly one of the less plentiful. While the cards have the "W" designation they do not appear to be hand cut calling into question the idea that these were strip cards. The cards are extraordinarily rare. In most cases no more than 1 or 2 examples of each subject have been grade. Most are low grade. Presented here is a collector-grade example of Yankee outfielder Bob Meusel. Graded PR 1 by SGC the card is desirable for its rarity not its grade as owning an important rare card of a member of Murderer's Row is a true hobby prize.
