1927 New York Yankees official scorecard for a game between the Yankees and the Detroit Tigers. The game was scored for 2 1/2 innings by the owner who later filled in "Rain temporarily stopped the game and I left. Final Score - Yanks 5-6-0 Tygers 3-12-0. Ruth got his 17th homer." This would imply the date was June 5 a game pitched by Wilcy Moore who lasted into the 7th but surrendered three earned runs before turning the game over to Myles Thomas who got the win when the Yankees broke a 3-3 tie with two runs in the 8th inning. Ruth did indeed hit his 17th home run that day. The scorecard is in poor condition some paper loss at the top edge and tears at the folds. The pages have separated from one another and have been repaired with clear tape at the spine. Despite this an excellent document of what may be the Yankees' greatest season on a date in June when they went 16 games over .500.
