I have one to sell!
Exceptional cardboard retail advertising display featuring Mickey Mantle given the title of "Player of the Year" for 1956 Mantle's Triple Crown season. The piece which is exceptionally rare is actually cut from a larger retail advertising display for Rawlings gloves. The Rawlings ad which appeared to the left of the framed section of the image has been cut away leaving a 16 1/2" x 20" cardboard advertising poster resembling an oversized framed photo or baseball card. The large image is quite attractive and remains rare and quite desirable in any configuration. This example does exhibit quite a bit of wear primarily in the form of horizontal crease that traverse the piece in many places but primarily right across the center. Also quite visible above Mantle's cap is a 3" strip of paper loss and a tack hole has developed into a slight tear at the top center. Despite all this along with significant edge and corner wear the piece displays exceptionally well one of the more desirable Mantle-related advertising pieces of this era.
