I have one to sell!
Sharp and attractive 1908 postcard featuring Cubs catcher Johnny Kling. While postal use has reduced the technical grade of the card due to writing and postal cancellations the overall image is still clear and strong with sharper corners and edges than average for the issue. The reverse makes reference to Ty Cobb and how Kling could not stop him on the basepaths. The date of October 12 on the card makes reference to Game 3 of the 1908 World Series a game won by the Tigers 8-3. In the late innings of that game however Cobb was a terror on the bases. In the 8th he led off the inning with a double and moved to third on a bunt single by Claude Rossman. He then scored on a Bill Coughlin sacrifice fly. In the ninth he singled to left with two outs then stole second and third before getting caught in a rundown trying to steal home thrown out at third to end the inning. He most definitely created problems for Kling on the bases that day. An outstanding card with fascinating content.
