Collectors of 19th Century advertising trade cards have long appreciated the elegant Victorian artwork interesting reverse advertising and often colorful designs but it is only recently that these cards have begun to enter mainstream card collecting. These gorgeous "blue-green" trade cards issued in 1887 and sold to local businesses that imprinted their own letterpress ads on each side are among the most desirable baseball-related trade cards in the hobby. The localized advertising makes for an indeterminate number of variations providing collectors with both an interesting variety of back advertisements and an enormous opportunity for research. Presented here is a complete set of nine "blue-green" trade cards the majority in G-VG condition with a few lesser including the "Hold your base!" card which has had its borders and lower edge trimmed away. Most are blank-backed and a few exhibit the glue stains so common to 19th Century trade cards. An attractive grouping of cards a complete set of one of the more desirable issues of its kind.
