One of the most difficult - and least understood - varieties of T206 back is the simple blank back. Unmarked with the traditional back advertisement for an ATC tobacco brand "authentic" blank backs are typically hand cut and not factory cut. These cards are thought to be a form of printer's scrap cards which were not completed and subsequently discarded for whatever reason only to be later hand cut. Were sheets taken out the back door and hand cut to be collected by an ATC employee's child? Were they cut down and used as reference copies by the printer or quality control worker? It is likely we will never know. What we do however know is that the T206 scholars at T206resource.com estimate that the blank back is the tenth most scarce back variety of all more difficult than even the highly sought-after Carolina Brights or Piedmont Factory 42 back. Presented here is a clean and attractive blank back of George Moriarty. Graded AUTHENTIC as expected by SGC the card has clearly been hand-cut the imae - along with a slight ghost - is clear on the front with no printing on the reverse whatsoever. One of the more desirable print anomalies in the hobby a very scarce and highly prized collectible.
