What looks like a pedestrian 1919 W514 strip card takes on a new dimension when you turn the card over and look at the reverse. The Hendlers Ice Cream brand is advertised in that space one of a rare subset that was manufactured with six different slogans (this by far the dumbest) printed underneath the company name and positioning statement. The W514 issue is the most popular of all the similar issues of the era due to the outstanding player selection and grouping of "Black Sox" players. The Hendlers advertisement simply adds a degree of scarcity to the cards. Simply not a back advertisement that makes itself available very often. It should be noted that this card is ungraded simply because it was a late consignment that we could not have gotten back from the grading company in time for inclusion into the catalog. Given the number of tough card types in this auction we elected to include it rather than hold it for spring.
