Beautiful signed 3x5" card of Bert Hamric. His Wikipedia entry lists him as "pinch hitter " Hamric played precisely ten games in the majors with only nine pate appearances (six strikeouts) and a .111 lifetime batting average. All nine of his plate appearances were as a pinch hitter (he did pinch-run once) though he was an outfielder in nine minor league seasons and a relief pitcher early on in his career. His career was largely not distinguished; another "cup of coffee" guy in the majors though he did hit .280 in the minors with some power (he fared much better in a full season with the Los Angeles Angels in 1957 where he hit .291 with 19 home runs. Despite the relatively brief career Hamric's signature is extremely desirable because he was a member of the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers one of the most widely-collected teams in the hobby. Due to his brief career not many Hamric signatures are known and thus the surviving examples are extremely desirable with significant competition among autograph collectors on the rare occasion that one becomes available. This example is beautiful with a dark ballpoint signature applied to the center of a relatively clean index card. Authenticated by PSA/DNA.
