In past LOTG auctions we have offered a variety of postcard-sized release forms obtained by early player agent Christy Walsh in which he obtained the signatures of various players (or representatives of their estates) in authorization to use the players' likeness for the purposes of a promotional wall calendar. Presented here is that wall calendar. Published for 1955 this 9" x 17" wall calendar is worth obtaining for the back cover alone a who's who in sports a composite photo with 39 different sports figures surrounding a bust of Walsh himself. Subjects pictured include Mickey Cochrane Honus Wagner Fielding Yost Joe Cronin Connie Mack Knute Rockne Lou Gehrig Babe Ruth Pop Warner Amos Alonzo Stagg Walter Johnson John McGraw Bill Tilden Grover Alexander and many more. Each month is represented by a full-color sports illustration along with an interesting fact and each date on the calendar highlights an interesting sports-related achievement from history (i.e. March 9 references March 9 1945 the day Rocky Graziano began a string of six knockouts by knocking out Billy Arnold). Any blank spaces on the calendar are filled in with portrait photos of various sports stars. VG/EX condition with some wear to the cover including a tear repaired with clear tape the interior pages protected by the cover. The calendar's black metal binding is still intact. An outstanding piece loaded with sports Hall of Famers.
