The Lone Scouts were a scouting organization for children who lived in remote areas and were unable to participate in a local scouting organization. Established in 1913 the organization is still in existence and caters to children of American citizens who live abroad boys and girls with disabilities that prevent them from attending regular troop meetings of other organizations boys and girls in rural communities sons and daughters of migrant workers and children who for a variety of reasons are unable to belong to a group scouting organization. The "Lone Scout" publication was a tabloid-sized newsprint publication that communicated news and stories to lone scouts across the nation. This example dated October 25 1919 includes a child's account of attending the 1919 World Series. Interestingly the account was written prior to any discussion of scandal or gambling so the story is simply an account of a Cincinnati World Series victory. Though the story does not include any photos it remains an interesting account of the biggest scandal in baseball history prior to the revelation that the White Sox had thrown the games. GOOD condition with brittle paper and age-related wear.
