Attractive complete set of 1961 Wrigley Field Exhibits featuring 24 of the game's greatest players. Each card features a full-size image of the player his name typeset into a white border at the lower end of the card. The backs of the cards are blank or feature postcard backs. This is a complete collector-grade set with each card showing a technical flaw to keep it at the lower end of the numerical scale while the player image retains strong visual appeal. Most of the cards have some writing on the back or on the front within the border. A complete breakdown of the set is as follows: Alexander(VG/EX) Anson (VG) Baker (VG/EX postcard back) Bresnahan (G writing on reverse) Brown (G writing on reverse) Chance (F writing on front and extensively on back) Cobb (G writing on reverse) E. Collins (G writing on reverse) J. Collins (VG) Evers (F writing on front and extensively on back) Gehrig (F writing on front and extensively on back) Griffith (G writing on reverse) Johnson (EX postcard back) Lazzeri (VG/EX) Maranville (G postcard back) Mathewson (VG) McGraw (G postcard back) Ott (VG postcard back) Pennock (VG/EX) Ruth (F writing on front and extensively on back) Simmons (F writing on reverse) Speaker (F writing on front and back) Tinker (F writing on front and extensively on back) Wagner (F mark on front and extensive writing on back). Where a card is marked above with "writing on back" it typically refers to a single number written in ink in the upper-left corner of the card. "Extensive writing" typically refers to significant ink writing of the player's statistics on the reverse - interesting but certainly detracting from the card's technical condition. Still an outstanding set featuring many of the game's greats. 24 cards total.
