Outstanding 1908 team composite postcards featuring the members of the Little Rock Travelers of the Southern Association. This Class-A ballclub featured a number of future major leaguers including Beals Becker Jim Buchanan Joe Connolly Dolly Stark and Hub Northern. The most important future major leaguer however is Hall of Famer Tris Speaker in just his second professional season. Speaker signed a contract with the Boston Red Sox who turned his contract over to the Little Rock team as payment for the rent on their Arkansas ballfield for Spring Training. By midseason the Red Sox had purchased Speaker's contract back and the rest was history. The postcard has been graded by SGC as GOOD 30 due to some staining on the reverse. The image quality however is exceptional. Appearing on the postcard are: Manager Mickey Finn (carrying the suitcase of "Travelers"). TOP ROW L-R: Buck Connors Billy Page Dolly Stark Arthur Hess East (first name unknown) Tony Walters; MIDDLE ROW L-R: Chris Eastman Steve Griffin Jim Buchanan Elwood Eyler Bill Hart; BOTTOM ROW L-R:Robert Well Beals Becker Tris Speaker Joe Collins and Bob Wood. A wonderful pre-rookie postcard of one of the game's best players ever.
