Unusual ink blotter featuring Pirates catcher George Gibson manufactured clearly before the 1912 season. The copy at the bottom of the blotter ("Be sure and collect all the records") indicates that multiple blotters were issued though we cannot identify the issuer. The blotter is printed on white fiber paper and features Gibson's biographical information and player records along with a line illustration purported to be the catcher. Clearly used for its intended purpose the blotter has varying colors of ink stains on the front and back two corner clips at the left side. Ink blotters were a popular form of advertising at the time and many manufacturers issued collectible blotters. Such is the case with this example.
