I have one to sell!
Attractive yellow sample ticket for Clark Griffith Stadium for attendance to the 1934 "Colored World Series " promoted as a four-team doubleheader. The ticket is clearly stamped "sample " with several hole punches through the ticket itself. The eye appeal is tremendous the well-preserved ticket in apparent VG/EX condition with light corner wear being the primary condition flaw. The Colored World Series Classic in 1934 was played on September 30 at Yankee Stadium in New York. Not actually a World Series of any sort the games were simply two four-team doubleheaders both of which attracted more than 20 000 fans. There was no actual "Colored World Series Classic " it was simply a marketing term designed to generate interest and sell tickets. The sample ticket to an event that never occurred at Clark Griffith Stadium was never actually used anywhere and we may never learn why the sample was produced for this date at this location. Still it was clearly produced for a reason related to the Negro Leagues and its plans to play games in major league ballparks in late 1934.
