1958 Topps is one of the more condition-sensitive sports issues of the 1950s with poor centering registration issues and overall poor quality all contributing to the relative difficulty of obtaining high-grade cards from this set. Adding to the set"s collectibility are a variety of printing variations with respect to the color of players" names and teams amidst the set"s first 110 cards. One such variation is with the color of Al Kaline"s name on his #70 card. While the more common version of the card has Kaline"s name printed in white reverse-out text the more scarce variation shows it printed in yellow lettering. This example shows that variation.
