Exceptional Pittsburgh Pirates contract for George Grant who at the tender age of 27 was winding down his baseball career. Grant's signature is of course not the noteworthy one on this contract nor is it that of NL President John Heydler. It is Hall of Famer and Pittsburgh Pirates owner Barney Dreyfuss who signed the contract on behalf of the Pirates on December 18 1930 that lends this contract considerable value. Dreyfuss signatures despite his status as a club executive are difficult to find even cut signatures routinely approach $1000.
