Anyone raised in the 1950s and 60s will reminisce about their childhood desire for a new pair of P. F. Flyer sneakers. Patented by the BF Goodrich rubber company the innovative "Posture Foundation" insole increased the comfort of athletic footwear and the company solicited endorsements from many popular professional athletes of the era. The brand represented one of the first manufacturers of athletic footwear an early predecessor to the marketing strategies employed by the likes of Nike. Measuring a whopping 20" x 25" this colorful point-of-purchase display offers sales copy for the sneakers while simultaneously offering batting tips for youngsters. With the catch phrase "P.F. helps you play your best longer " the sign is very aesthetically appealing its bright orange background providing a focal point and drawing the eye to the ad. The condition is remarkable with a visible ding to the bottom-right corner and some overall edge and corner wear consistent with the age. The easel on the reverse has never been used leading us to believe that this piece likely was never actually displayed in a retail store. A remarkably attractive companion to the Ted Williams ad piece featured in this auction.
