Rolled into a tight curl from more than 60 years of storage this famous team photo pictures the World Champion 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers. Measuring approximately 14" x 11" the photo was sent by the New York Mirror to one Martin Reiner of the Bronx (who should be a Yankee fan by the way) in a heavy duty mailing tube. The photo was likely some sort of premium giveaway and appears to have never been displayed - aside from some toning edge and corner wear and the aforementioned curl the photo is spectacular. The 1955 Dodgers are one of the most widely-collected teams in the hobby and though this photo is as we have noted quite famous we have not encountered an example such as this where the provenance can be so easily identified. While the curl appears permanent placing the photo under plastic (as we did for the catalog photo) flattens it for display purposes beautifully so the piece can be artfully displayed without professional restoration to permanently flatten it.
