Spectacular ticket stub for "Boston Madison Square Garden" on Saturday November 17 1928. The original name of the legendary Boston Garden the famous arena for which construction began in early 1928 at a cost of $10 million. The first event - for which this ticket stub admitted a patron - was a boxing card featuring Boston's Dick "Honey Boy" Finnegan defeating French boxer and World Featuerweight champion Andre Routis. Over the next 70 years the Garden would serve as home to some of the greatest events in Boston sports history. The stub is quite attractive as was the norm for tickets of the day featuring ornate designs an illustration of the Garden and three-color printing. Though the stub exhibits edge and corner wear as well as some paper loss near the perforation on the reverse the stub displays wonderfully a beautiful memento of one of the great sports facilities in the history of the country.
