Crisp cards of two of the live ball era"s stars: pitcher-turned-outfielder Lefty O"Doul and Gashouse Gang sparkplug Pepper Martin. Both graded VG/EX 4 by PSA the cards are both outstanding specimens particularly the O"Doul which is bursting with color. While T-B centering may have penalized the grade a bit the upper-right corner crease was more likely the culprit.In the case of the Martin it is entirely possible that the grader overlooked a very significant stain on the reverse the card appears to be a VG/EX card from a distance but simply flipping over the card yields the very obvious stain. It is important to us to point out that the Martin is significantly overgraded and would be more at home in a GOOD 2 holder. In terms of pure eye appeal however both cards are extremely attractive - on the front.
