Attractive 1929 H527 Stevens-Davis "Men Of America" Booklets complete set stored in its original box. These booklets were produced by the Stevens-Davis company of Chicago and distributed to the company's employees as a motivational tool. Each "card" is actually an eight-page booklet with colorful covers featuring an illustration or photographic representation of a legendary American with biographical information inside. The accompanying wood box appears to be a book and was meant to be displayed as such. This is a very scarce and desirable set. The box is in VG/EX condition with its original parts intact and some age and use-related wear at the spine and edges. The set is complete the booklets averaging VG to VG/EX condition with some stronger and a few lesser. This is a substantial piece and a very forward-thinking idea for an employer particularly given the expense of producing such a thing during the Depression. An outstanding document of America at the beginning of a new era in American business.
