I have one to sell!
One of the earlier Topps sets of the 1960s that began to hint at the company"s design strategy of letting the photo speak for itself the 1964 set is one of the more attractive of the decade. Featuring large photographs set underneath the team name in block letters the simplicity of the cards began to become more important than the design itself. The result is a beautiful set featuring excellent photography.Quality control is of course another issue as the 1964 set is riddled with horrific centering problems miscuts and tilts and the cards are also susceptible to gum stains. Condition is described below without regard to the scratch-off cartoon the reverse. Overall this is a collector grade to midgrade set with some better and some worse. A condition breakdown would be 2% EX-MT or better; 12% EX 24% VG/EX 43% VG 19% G or worse. A description of the keys is as follows:Wilhelm VG Berra VG/EX Brock VG Mathews VG Mantle G Banks VG Alston VG/EX Oliva RC F Drysdale EX/MT Rose EX Koufax K"s 15 EX/MT Mays EX+ Snider VG/EX Piniella RC VG/EX B. Williams G Killebrew VG/EX Koufax EX+ Fox G Yastrzemski G Maris VG/EX B. Robinson VG Allen RC VG DeBusschere G Kaline VG F. Robinson G Bunning EX Aaron VG Mays/Cepeda EX Stengel VG/EX AL Bombers (Mantle) VG Stargell EX/MT McCovey VG Santo EX Ford EX Cepeda VG Spahn VG Aaron/Mays VG/EX Clemente VG/EX Gibson VG/EX Perry VG Niekro RC VG Aparicio VG/EX Mazeroski VG/EX. One card the Al Downing/Jim Bouton card has been signed by Bouton. All in all this is a more attractive set than the technical grade would suggest an outstanding representation of 1960s baseball card art. 587 cards total.
