Large (framed to 26 1/2" x 15 1/2") and attractive photo of an amateur team from Dunkirk PA. Our original research had identified this team as a team from the town of Dunkirk NY but by researching the 1930 Main-Line League we discovered that the league was a semipro league in Pennsylvania. Dunkirk was a small mining town near the Monongahela River near the western part of the state. Several future major leaguers broke in with the Main Line league including Jack Lapp and Jimmy Dykes. No future major leaguers that we can identify are depicted in this photo; it is simply a beautiful photo of a nondescript semipro team slugging it out in 1930 Pennsylvania. The photo appears in excellent condition several visible scuffs gouge the wood frame which is otherwise in fine shape.
