One of the game's early great teams the 1894 Baltimore Orioles were a hard-nosed group of hustling stars that included future Hall of Famers Dan Brouthers Ned Hanlon (the team's manager) Hughie Jennings Willie Keeler John McGraw and Wilbert Robinson. This remarkable piece features 16 members of the team which won the league championship that season (as noted on the verso). Many mementos of that team exist from cabinet photos and paperweights to the well-documented Alpha Photo Engraving cards discovered several years ago featuring members of the team. This heavy celluloid pendant measures 1 3/4" in diameter and 3 3/4" in length with its original ribbon. While the piece does exhibit some wear and age-related discoloration it remains one of the finest examples we have seen a scarce and desirable document of one of the great teams of the 19th Century featuring six Hall of Famers.
