Exceptional example of the "batting" version of Cincinnati infielder Tom Downey"s T206 card. Downey shown toward the beginning of his career was a promising second baseman in the Connecticut State League and various other Northeast minor leagues prior to joining the Reds for the 1909 season. His promise never truly materialized however and after four years in the majors he moved to the American Association for the 1913 season. Joining the Buffalo Blues of the Federal League for 1914 and 15 Downey never hit his stride finishing his career in New Jersey with the International League where he remained until he passed in 1961.Population Data SGC Population: 18 total graded 3 at this level 0 higherPSA Population: 65 total graded 12 at this level 2 higher**Please note that PSA just recently began to differentiate between T206 back variations in their population reports so it is entirely possible that other examples of this card may have been graded by PSA and classified in their pop reports as "unknown back."
