Panini has been a major issuer in the European card market for decades. Panini has been making boxing cards (stickers) in conjunciton with its multisport sets since the 1960s. Given that the American boxing card market became more or less extinct from the mid-1960s until 1991 Panini's offerings represent the best way to collect fighters active in the 1960s-80s. Panini's offerings were always intended to be stuck into an album but did not become self-adhesive stickers until relatively recently so the earlier Panini offerings are thin cards. Given their intended use many cards are found with back damage. The 1966-67 set has a rare contest back variation called a "Valida".
