The 1952 Bowman Large football set is one of the most beautiful and popular postwar football issues. Conceived as a test issue the set was produced in response to the success of Topps" larger-format baseball cards issued earlier in the year. Considered by many to be the most popular football set the "52 Bowman Large issue is a beautiful colorful set with a large number of Hall of Famers and rookie cards. One example is this beautiful Ollie Matson card one of the set"s very difficult short prints. Matson the six-time Pro Bowler who was jointly awarded Rookie of the Year in 1952 is a key to the set from the more difficult high number series. With all strong attributes and just slightly off-center left to right this example graded NM-MT 8 by PSA is one of just 14 Matsons to grade this high with PSA with only one higher. An additional Matson exists on the SGC population reports in MINT 96 with just one NM-MT card in their census. This is a very sharp and highly desirable card a scarce short print that is difficult to obtain in high grade from a popular and widely collected football issue.Population data:PSA Population: 121 total graded 14 at this level 1 higherSGC Population: 19 total graded 1 at this level 1 higher
